Phnom Tbaeng Natural Heritage Park (PTNHP) was established in 2016 as protected area, with a total size of 25,269 hectares, under the management of the Ministry of Environment (MoE). PTNHP has a general elevation of about 400 meters and forms a key component of the upper watershed of the Stung Sen River, a tributary of the Tonle Sap Lake. This protected area contains some of the last remaining evergreen and semi-evergreen forest habitats in northern Cambodia and is of high importance for wildlife conservation and provision of ecosystem services. The PTNHP forests also ensure a supply of freshwater to surrounding communities and prevent soil erosion from the area’s steep slopes.
The site is supported by the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) Cambodia program.
Checklist published with support from Arcadia Open Access, project supported by USAID Greening Prey Lang (USAID GPL), Agence Française de Développement (AFD), Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies (MACP), Critical Ecosystems Partnership Fund (CEPF), Mekong Region Land Governance Project (MRLG project) and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS).
Evergreen, semi-evergreen forest, dry deciduous dipterocarp forest, and grassland habitats.
