Species were identified in situ, and abundance counts were recorded for each visit. Following field collection, data were digitized from the original publication and structured into a tabular format. Taxonomic names were standardized, and occurrence records were formatted according to Darwin Core standards. Geographic coordinates corresponding to the study site were assigned, and quality control procedures were applied to ensure data consistency prior to publication. The study was conducted in the Jardin des Plantes, a historical urban botanical garden located in Montpellier, southern France. This urban green space is characterized by a mosaic of wooded areas, lawns, ornamental plantings, and built structures embedded within a dense urban matrix. The survey focused on breeding bird communities inhabiting this urban park environment. The spatial extent is restricted to the boundaries of the Jardin des Plantes, representing a typical Mediterranean urban green space and providing a reference site for urban avifauna studies. Bird surveys were conducted during the breeding season between March and June 1979 using a standardized observation protocol.
