Description

Flora and fauna study prepared by Coproyma for Imerys. The study aims to provide the results of fauna and flora inventories inside and/or around Imerys mining sites in the province of Albacete (Spain). Fieldwork for the inventory was conducted over a four-month period from February 2025 through June 2025. Birds were surveyed through extensive vehicle surveys and linear walking transects, intensive observations from selected vantage points and nocturnal raptors were specifically sampled using the NOCTUA methodology with playback. Bat sampling involved a bibliographic review, study of potential shelters and bat activity monitoring using passive ultrasound recorders. Terrestrial Mammals were surveyed by studying tracks and signs, complementary to the bird walking transects. Herpetofauna (Reptiles and Amphibians) sampling included a bibliographic review and active searching for refuges and trap areas. Flora and Vegetation, were studied in spring using 2x2m quadrants at 8 specific points to determine coverage.
