Description
Data Records
The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 675,525 records.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
Versions
The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

Geographic Coverage
The present database includes only saproxylic beetles sampled in continental France and Corsica, and encompass all of the 96 counties. This represents a total of 9150 geographic points and 66203 samples.

Taxonomic Coverage
This database includes a total of 71 families (see Table 3 below), 153 subfamilies, 739 genus and 2041 species of saproxylic beetles. This represents about 77% of the species recorded on the French list of saproxylic coleoptera (Bouget et al. 2019), updated with new exotic taxa recently added to the list. We can note however in Table 3 discrepancies of representativity between families. Notably, while the Staphylinidae is the family with the highest number of known saproxylic beetle species in France, our database includes only 61% of those, while the Curculionidae Scolytinae and the Cerambycidae, two others speciose groups, are well-represented with 90% of the known French species. The Curculionidae records concern to a great majority the Scolytinae subfamily (93%). This is by far the most represented group in the database (20% of records).
