Description

Willows from Switzerland collected (or distributed) in 1824, 101 specimens divided into 2 boxes. (Probably corresponds to the publication of 1824, list in the publication with date of collection, places etc. Saved on the server.) Purchase: December 1, 1841 Nicolas Charles Seringe is a French botanist, born December 3, 1776 in Longjumeau and died September 29, 1858 in Lyon 3éme. Studies medicine, incorporated into the army in 1796 as a military surgeon, retired to Bern in 1813. Specialized in botany, taught it, and from 1820 to 1830, he was curator of the De Candolle herbarium and deputy director from the Geneva Botanical Garden. In 1830, he became director of the Jardin des Plantes in Lyon and taught, from 1834, at the science faculty of that city. Saules de Suisse collectés (ou diffusés) en 1824, 101 planches réparties en 2 classeurs. (Correspond vraisemblablement à la publication de 1824, liste dans la publication avec date de collecte, lieux etc. Enregistré sur le serveur.) Achat : 1er décembre 1841 Nicolas Charles Seringe est un botaniste français, né le 3 décembre 1776 à Longjumeau et mort le 29 septembre 1858 à Lyon 3éme. Etudes de médecine, incorporé dans l’armée en 1796 comme chirurgien militaire, se retire à Berne en 1813. Se spécialise en botanique, l’enseigne, et de 1820 à 1830, il est conservateur de l'herbier De Candolle et directeur-adjoint du Jardin botanique de Genève. Il devient directeur, en 1830, du Jardin des plantes de Lyon et enseigne, à partir de 1834, à la faculté des sciences de cette ville.
