Descrição
This dataset, collected within CEFE research projects, documents the presence and diversity of ant communities in micro-flowerbeds and small vegetated infrastructures in the urban environment of Montpellier (France). The objective is to better understand the role of these small vegetated habitats in hosting, structuring, and facilitating the dispersal of ant communities in an urban context.
Sampling was conducted across a network of micro-flowerbeds distributed among different districts of Montpellier. Standardized baiting protocols were used to detect ant species occurring in these micro-habitats. The dataset includes occurrence records of ant species by baiting point and by micro-flowerbed site.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Métodos de Amostragem
Ant communities were surveyed using standardized baiting protocols. Baits were placed at predefined baiting points within each micro-flowerbed site. Ants attracted to the baits were recorded and identified, and abundance (when available) was documented per baiting point. This approach provides a comparable measure of occurrence and community composition across sites and sampling periods.
| Área de Estudo | Sampling was conducted within the city of Montpellier (southern France) across a network of micro-flowerbeds and small vegetated urban infrastructures distributed among multiple urban districts. Sites were selected to represent a range of local urban contexts and micro-habitat conditions, allowing assessment of ant community occurrence and composition within small vegetated patches embedded in an urban matrix. |

Descrição dos passos do método:
- Field teams deployed bait stations at predefined locations within each micro-flowerbed and recorded ant occurrences following a standardized protocol. Specimens (or observations) were identified by taxonomic expertise. Data were digitized, cleaned (text normalization, coordinate checks, date standardization), and taxonomic names were matched to TAXREF identifiers when available. The dataset was then formatted according to Darwin Core standards for publication.
