Description

For many years now, within the framework of ORE DiaPFC, SOERE OLA or the OFB-INRAE-Institut Agro-UPPA Cluster, various INRAE units (U3E, UMR ECOBIOP and UMR CARRTEL) and OFB (DRAS ) take samples from many aquatic specimens. These samples, usually scales or fins, are then used by the scientific community to carry out various analyzes and research. Labeled Biological Resource Center (CRB) by the GIS IBISA, Colisa is part of the BRC4Env environment pillar of the RARE infrastructure. Our catalog references these different hard tissue samples and offers a module allowing you to perform queries on our database and select the types of data likely to interest you. You can then export this data.

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 378,736 records.

6 extension data tables also exist. An extension record supplies extra information about a core record. The number of records in each extension data table is illustrated below.

Bounding Coordinates South West [-90, -180], North East [90, 180]

Taxonomic Coverage

Model species, preferentially used by the scientific community to study biological mechanisms whose results can be extended to other less accessible or less documented species based on the conservation of functions and genes during evolution.

Species Salmo salar (Atlantic Salmon), Salmo trutta (Sea trout), Onchorynchus mykiss (Rainbow Trout), Cyprinus carpio (Common carp, European carp, King carp, Mirror carp), Sparus auratus (Gilthead seabream)

Temporal Coverage

Start Date / End Date 1958-12-18 / 2024-01-15

Sampling Methods

The samples come from scientific monitoring and from amateur and professional fishing.

Study Extent French metropole and Kerguelen island
Quality Control The Colisa Biological Resource Centre is ISO 90001 certified

Method step description:

  1. - Samples of scales or other tissues are taken from fish during fish surveys. The fish are returned to the water. Otoliths are collected from fish found dead or caught by amateur fishermen. - Age is verified from scale reading according to standard methods described by Baglinière and Le Louarn (1987) and Richard and Baglinière (1990).
