Description

The amphibians and reptiles represent 515 occurences in the paleontological collections of the University of Strasbourg. They were essentially collected during the 19th century and come from geological outcrops accessible in southern Germany – with a few exceptions - at that time. Amphibians are mainly represented by Temnospondyls and some Anurans; Reptiles are more diverse: Sauropterygia, Ichthyosauromorpha, Lepidosauromorpha, Squamata, Testudines, Crocodylomorpha, Pterosauria, Dinosauria et Avialae. The set includes 7 complete skeleton of ichthyosaurs and 2 complete skeleton of marine crocodiles from the Jurassic deposits of Holzmaden, Germany. This work received financial support from the Ministère de l’Enseignement Supérieur et de la Recherche in 2024.
